Rising oil prices increase interest in work at home

Rising oil prices increase interest in work at home

With today’s oil prices topping $130.00 a barrel and $4.00 a gallon gas now being the average price around the nation, consumers are looking for ways of both saving money and learning how to add to their monthly income.

As consumers become comfortable with using the internet for more than just reading emails we see the online jobs market expanding. People who not so long ago would have never thought they could make money online are now adding a significant amount to the monthly coffers by creating an online presence and then marketing themselves much as a business would do.

I only see this trend expanding. As prices around the world continue to spiral out of control, everyone starts talking about the depression era if they are old enough and baby boomers are starting to remember what they heard from their parents about the tough times the depression created.

Sure, things are somewhat different now. We have a lot of technology that was not available back then. But as great of a country as we are, we could not stop oil from spiraling out of control once again. Even with all our advancements in agriculture we were unable to control food prices and now find that something as simple as head of iceberg lettuce costs upwards of $1.50 a head.

Where all this is headed most of us do not know. We have never lived it. But we are about to. And those who are creating their online presence now, learning to use the internet as a business, and finding ways to market themselves are getting ahead of the pack. And the pack will arrive, there is no doubt.

Many people who currently operate the “mom and pop” businesses in small towns around the U.S. are now looking to take their product online. This is working out well especially for those who have a nice niche or product that is not widely available. For instance in many southern states women continue to make beautiful quilts by hand. These bring a lot of money from tourists during tourist season. Everyone would like to have a handmade quilt for themselves and if you can afford it to give to someone special. Quilting is an art that has almost become extinct in modern America but is alive and well in smalltown rural U.S.A. As prices continue to spiral out of control you’re finding that Granny no longer can only make quilts, she can also create a blog and operate a shopping cart!

I expect to see this trend continue for awhile because I do not see an end in sight of higher prices. Given that oil will eventually find a price where it levels off I do not think we’ll ever see $40.00 a barrel oil and so the coming boom to those supplying internet services will continue.
