Adding Your Shopping Cart

Adding Your Shopping Cart

Your site is up and you are now ready to start selling your products online. So what is the next step? You probably will need to start looking for a shopping cart.

An online shopping cart is a program that enables your customers to purchase items from you and functions much like the shopping cart you would use in the grocery store. You install it much the same way as you do any of the other scripts and programs that you have used to build your site. With the better shopping carts you will be able to display an image of the product along with any specifics like size, amount, quality, and descriptions. Your shopping cart may also allow you to provide your customer with the estimated time of delivery, shipping charges, and quantities you have available.

Of course they will need to be able to “checkout” . In other words pay you for the items. This is done by adding your payments methods as part of the shopping cart setup.

Setting up your shopping cart correctly and uploading your product to it can be time consuming but once you have everything in place maintaining the cart is usually a fairly simple matter.
